Enrollment Process

The Mountain School accepts children ages two-years-and-nine-months to five-and-a-half. A child may begin the first of the month in which s/he turns two-nine.

CLASSROOM TOURS take place by appointment on school days from 9:30 until about 10:30. There is a brief introduction to The Mountain School, followed by observations in each of our two classrooms. There is time for questions afterward. Because school is in session, these tours are for adults only. Please make a reservation for a tour or call us at 415-924-4661.

APPLICATIONS are accepted at any time during the year and spaces are offered as available.  Click here for an enrollment application.

APPLICANT VISITS take place from 9:30-10:00 am on school days, and are scheduled on on an individual basis.  

TUITION ASSISTANCE APPLICATIONS should be received by March 1 for the school year beginning the following September. However, after March 1 it is always worthwhile to inquire whether tuition assistance funds are still available. Please see our Tuition and Tuition Assistance page for additional information on tuition assistance.

NOTIFICATION OF ENROLLMENT and TUITION ASSISTANCE STATUS is mailed following the applicant visit. A response is requested within about week by signing an ENROLLMENT AGREEMENT and submitting a $500 ENROLLMENT & SITE DEVELOPMENT FEE. The Enrollment & Site Development Fee holds a space for the upcoming school year until the FIRST TUITION PAYMENT is due on May 1st. The Enrollment Agreement is a legal document, and we urge you to review it carefully before signing.
